Six years ago I was planning on getting married in Thailand, it was all planned.

I wasn’t excited…

It’s not what you think, its not some devastating story on how I left my husband-to-be at the alter :0

All I wanted to plan was the after-party on our return, I had the details down. Party in a tipi, fire pit, camping, bunting, cocktails, the list goes on… The Pinterest fire had gone off in my belly, and I wanted it all!!

The Thailand plans got dumped and the budget for the party on home soil went up! The wedding was everything I dreamt of, I fulfilled all my Pinterest dreams and more.

The big day came and went, I was left with a whole lot of decorations that I’d scoured from every avenue and I wanted more. More planning, more designing, more Pinterest. So then My Vintage Flower was born.

I initially started selling my tea cup candelabras, they were a hit at the wedding and afternoon tea was a bit hit at the time, hence the name. MY VINTAGE (tea cups), FLOWER (tea cups). The business soon moved on from the candelabras and the styling took off. I was never advertised as a florist back then (even if the name was calling for it!!) I done a lot of floristry on the side, helping brides by sourcing flowers and helping them put it together on the day.

When styling a venue, I would always look forward to when the flowers would arrive, helping the florist lay them out, they always made the styling look finished, brought them alive. I loved flowers and I wanted more, sound familiar..?

Fast forward a few years… 2017

I found a floristry course, I completed it, I loved it, I couldn’t get enough. So I started offering it to my brides and they loved it too.

A couple of years on, I’ve built a flower workshop in the garden and I work from there most days with my little helper, flower creations are getting bigger and bigger, I’m offering floral workshops, styling is more popular then ever. I’m loving my job, and it shows in my work.
Ok, I still don’t love packing the van, that’ll never change… but we can’t have it all hey!
